Quick Tip: Re-Read Your Assignment Sheet

 by Lindsey Strang

Read the assignment sheet closely and more than once. This is especially important when your professor describes what he or she wants at some length in the prompt. Although you may think you have a clear idea of the assignment after one quick read, it is always a good idea to read the sheet again when you go to begin the essay and once you've completed it so you can be sure you've adequately addressed the prompt and met all the requirements. Reading the sheet again at the end, once you know what you have written, is crucial because it gives you a chance to check your own work against the professor's advice and requirements.
